Trekking the Pyrenees by the HRP

From Coast to Coast

What's it all about?

This site presents the story of how we trekked the Pyrenees. It is complete in its original concept, except for the larger photos which are now available on Flickr: Larger Photos on Flickr

In Research of the HRP

Just a handful of European routes were selected to feature in Bill Birkett's coverage of the planet's greatest treks; the book 'Classic Treks' includes 'The High Route of the Pyrenees' in its European contingent. Lying between France and Spain, the HRP is one of the most accessible and attainable treks.

When the author and his wife decided to trek the HRP in 2002, they looked for a modern written account (narrative) of travel in the Pyrenees along with practical details and found little. This work attempts to redress that void.
